Living fully in the second half of life, Camilla, a psychologist, shouldn't really be alive. Is it her lifelong friendship with mutually mischievous Rosie, her undeniable romance with Javier, or her playful love for her great granddaughter, Chelsea, that keeps her from succumbing to cancer? At 55, she meets Javier, an amazing dancer, and convinces Rosie to join her in creating an elegant bed and breakfast with views of the mountains and roaring waters of Washington. When mortality beckons, Camilla seeks a dignified death that doesn't hurt those around her. In a dramatic turn of events, life surprises her, and at 94, she dances tenderly with Javier one more time.
A charming story filled with desire, romantic heart- break, rich friendship, and authentic people. You will see aging differently and know how achingly beautiful life really is, at any age.

Finding My Way eBook Kathryn Foster Reviews
This is the story of Camilla, her life and relationships. Her lifelong best friend Rosie, and her late in life lover Javier.
Camilla's life, and adventures, makes one think about life in general, about dying, and everything in between.
The scenes change in time. The story starts with Camilla at age 94, the next chapter she is 55, the next she is 94 again. I found it hard to follow, at first, but then I fell into a rhythm. I got to know Camilla and Rosie, and then Javier.
Family of Camilla and Rosie and Javier came into the story line. Telling of how family and friends change your circumstances, influence your thoughts and plans and wishes. Family can dictate a move you don't want to make, but feel you must.
I found this to be a very "believable" story. Many parts could very well be true to someones life. I enjoy this type of story. In fact this story often made me think of my own Mother, and how she found a very special love, later in life, and also fought and won a battle with cancer.
It was inspiring, it was romantic, it was sad, and thought provoking. I would recommend it. I felt it was definitely a very good read. It told me I need to stop and smell the roses a little more often.
I received this book for free, in exchange for an unbiased review.
I have to admit, in the beginning it took me a little bit to get into the story of Camilla and her friends. This is not typically the kind of novel I tend to read, but I received the book in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. As a writer myself, I believe that all authors deserve a fair chance, because I know that sometimes it takes a little bit to get going.
Once I began to get a feel for the book, I found Camilla to be a delightfully feisty character and she sort of reminded me of how I once envisioned myself as I began to enter the later years of my life. The book sort of made me a little homesick for the types of friendships I once had when I was younger, before work and family took over my life. It made me smile to think that someone like Camilla, had someone like Rosie in her life, especially when she needed her most. Friendship is important.
I am not familiar with the author's other work, a quick glance at her page show that she had written a few other non-fiction books. And while the story was good, it is evident that this is probably one of the author's first forays into fiction writing. Which, is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you're used to more polished writing this may be an issue.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Because I am in the second half of my life, too, I could thoroughly relate to many of the things going on in Camilla life and in her mind. I also wish I could be living my life with the gusto and vitality that Camilla did. To know that you have people that love and care for you so deeply is a wonderful gift. Many of us do not know what our friends and family think of us. This was one of those books that you do not want to put down and fortunately I was away from home with little distractions and I could keep reading. I would recommend this book to family and friends. Disclosure I received this product for free, however this in no way influenced my review. I only write honest reviews regardless of whether I purchased a product at full price, at a discount, or received it free.
This book held my attention from the very first paragraph to the very last word in the story. It is a beautiful love story, not only between Camilla and Javier, but also a story between two women, Camilla and Rosie, who have been best friends most of their lives, and remained the closest of friends 'til the end. I also felt it had a magical and mystical feel about it that takes you to many wonderful places and many experiences, some good and some not so good, that you will remember and ponder for a long time. Camilla was a psychologist and continued her practice until she was in her 80's. She took her practice very seriously and cared deeply about her patients. She was also outgoing, playful, loved the outdoors, hiked in the beautiful woods where she and Rosie ran a Bed and Breakfast in the town of LaCaida in the state of Washington, and loved to dance.
Rosie was the more practical of the two, with a more serious outlook on life, but was always Camilla's champion. She always had her feet planted firmly on the ground, allowing Camilla to take flight in her thoughts and dreams and actions. Every woman should be able to experience a friendship like this at least once in their life, and I am grateful to say I have and still am able to experience a friendship like this. Even though they were both quite elderly in this story, I never once considered their age while I was reading the story until the end of the book.
I can't even start to do justice to the love that Camilla and Javier had for each other. They both had their ups and downs in life, but their love never waivered. And it was something I felt while reading the book, not just words on a page. Not only is this book a beautiful love story, it was also very thought provoking. Life didn't always go smoothly for any of the characters but the way they all lived and handled their lives made you think about how you do, and how you will, live your life through the years. This story flowed very smoothly and I think was written very well. And I would highly recommend it.
This book was sent to me free of charge to review and give my honest and unbiased opinion.about it, and that is what I can say I have truly done.
I enjoyed the fact, the story made it so clear people need people to flourish and enjoy a fulfilled life
A fun book to relax with while having a glass of wine, while still connecting with finding the deeper meaning of it all. Engaging and a fast read.
